Brother

When the brakes give out from underneath,
And the one who has carried you all this time is exhausted.
Picture frames relinquish the nails suspending them on walls.
All I ask is this.
Brother, do not shatter when you fall.

When the crops are under famine after years of dependence,
And even the sun hides itself behind the clouds.
Those who've fed you are starving.
All I ask is this,
Brother, do not shatter when you fall.

And when your heart is in need of rescue and peace,
Everyone is gone and there is solitude.
The world falls down through space freezing like glass.
All I ask is this,
Brother, do not shatter when you fall.
